1625 Rings was a durational performance instillation, created and performed by Bonnie as part of the Annandale Creative Arts Centre's “Creative Conversations” in June/July, 2016.

The piece was created in response to a statistic stating that, globally, 32 000 girls enter into childhood marriage every day. Broken down, that number equates to 1625 girls every hour. Representing this, Bonnie placed exactly 1625 Burger Rings in a confined space to form a map of the world over the course of an hour.

The use of a childish snack-food, nostalgically remembered in school-yard games of “playing weddings”, was paired with the harsh reality of this all-too-real statistic, providing a confronting juxtaposition. Additionally, the chips themselves held a distinct smell and sensory experience for audiences. As Bonnie placed a Burger Ring every two seconds, the durational repetition of the simple action, with the precise rhythm of a resting heart-rate, created a mesmeric and developing performance instillation.
