unravelling was a performance instillation conceptualised, devised, directed and performed by Bonnie, and produced by Morgan Little. Commissioned for the You Are Here festival in April, 2016, the piece debuting at the Gorman Arts Centre, Canberra, before being adapted for You Are Here’s ‘Everything Together and All At Once’ later in the festival.

Audience members were invited to follow the trail of glow-in-the dark rocks through the mostly-dark room, where they were to place a handful of glow-pebbles at Bonnie’s feet. In response to the gift of light, Bonnie made eye contact with the audience member and shared a story with them. Continuing along the path of pebbles revealed that the story shared was, in fact, a stolen quip from an unreferenced online source, raising discussions of honesty in an age of social media copy-and-pasting.

As an intimate, one-on-one performance, Bonnie invited a reciprocal, palpable connection with audience members, allowing them to remain in the space and remain present with her for as long as they desired.
