Assembly was a durational movement performance created and directed by UK choreographer Nicola Conibere, presented by Critical Path in conjunction with the 20th Biennale of Sydney, 2016.
As a singular spectator entered the space, a performer would simultaneously enter the space, leaving only when their “paired” spectator exited. This score allowed an equal number of performers to viewers. Performers repeated a range of simple formations and movements, exploring shifts in relation between individual and collective bodies. Inviting eye contact between performer and audience member aided in the creation of a connected relationship and a dismantling of the “fourth wall”.
Bonnie, along with fourteen local volunteers, performed in the Australian re-performance of Assembly at the Drill Hall between April 1st and 3rd.
